National Occupation List (NOL) Occupation Check

A review of how an occupation sits under the National Occupation List, and what changed on 9 March 2026.

From NZD $245 excluding GST · one round of amendments included
About this service

What it is

The National Occupation List replaced ANZSCO, and the classifications moved. On 9 March 2026, 47 additional occupations were recognised at skill levels 1 to 3, while pet groomers, nannies and kennel hands moved from skill level 3 to 4 — pushing those roles onto the longer advertising track with Work and Income engagement. This review establishes where a role now sits and what that changes about the requirements applying to it.

What the document contains

  • Matching of the role's duties to the correct NOL occupation
  • Current skill level and what it means for advertising and wage settings
  • Analysis of any reclassification and its effect on existing arrangements
  • Green List and exemption position for the occupation
  • Evidence of the duties match, drawn from the position description

What the instructions require

  • 47 occupations recognised at skill levels 1 to 3 from 9 March 2026
  • Pet groomers, nannies and kennel hands moved from skill level 3 to 4
  • Skill level determines the advertising period and the applicable wage settings

Summarised from Immigration New Zealand instructions current at publication. Instructions change — confirm the current position before relying on any figure.

How it works

From enquiry to delivered document

The same four steps on every file, whether it is a $155 translation or a $2,900 investor submission.

  1. 1

    Send us the file

Complete the intake form on this page, or e-mail what you have. Upload the documents you already hold — we will tell you what is missing rather than guess.

  2. 2

We confirm scope and a fixed fee

Within one business day you get the scope, a fixed fee and a delivery date in writing. Nothing starts until you accept. The fee does not move afterwards.

  3. 3

    We write the document

Drafted from your evidence, to the standard the assessor works to, with every figure sourced and nothing asserted that the evidence does not support.

  4. 4

    One revision included

Tell us what needs to change and we revise once at no charge. Most files never need it, and it is there so you are never stuck with a document that does not fit.

Questions

What clients ask about this service

Why does classification matter so much?

It sets everything downstream. Skill level 1–3 needs 14 days of advertising; 4–5 needs 21 days plus Work and Income engagement. Get it wrong and the whole Job Check is wrong.

What changed in March 2026?

47 occupations were recognised at skill levels 1–3, and pet groomers, nannies and kennel hands moved from 3 to 4 — which pushes them onto the longer advertising track.

We've always used a certain code.

Worth checking. ANZSCO has been replaced by the National Occupation List and classifications moved.
